Help us
A request from the raped, beaten, abused, and abandoned children of Guatemala.
"Please help us b/c we cannot help ourselves. We cannot change the laws that make the judges put us back with our parents that abuse us and do not have enough food to give us because they spend it on alcohol. We cannot make our goverment open up adoptions so that we do not have to grow-up in orphanages where we are also molested and have no parents. We cannot help the fact that we have nowhere to go when we turn 18. What are we supposed to do? Where should we go? You can send money to us... you can pray for us... you can come and and hold us and love us...but who is going to change the laws? We were hoping that you could send a letter or call your congressmen. Maybe you could ask him about it. Ask him why when we are raped we are sent back and how can this be changed. Ask him what you can do to change the laws. We can't. we don't understand. This is the only life we know..."
I wrote this with specific instances in mind. After sitting through and hearing of case after case of children being returned to bad situations, I thought I should communicate it to you. I hope this will be an encouragement to some of the people in the U.S. to contact their congress man and see what they can do to change the laws in Guatemala. Private ministries are only able to help a fraction of the thousands of children that are in the system or should be in.
God Bless.
